How Do I Qualify for Leasing or Financing?
The primary applicant must have satisfactory credit and be on title for the home and the land it resides on. A quick credit check and title check will be conducted to determine eligibility. Only one credit check is required to qualify for both leasing and financing.

How Do I Pay My Monthly Bill?
Payments are automatically debited from your bank account monthly. You can provide your banking information via our online Flinks banking connection. If you prefer, you can also provide us with your void cheque or pre-authorized debit form.
What is the Comfort Owl Difference?
What sets us apart is our $1 difference. At Comfort Owl, we take a different approach with a ten-year term length designed to align with the lifespan of the equipment. At the end of the term, there are no inflated exit costs, perpetual contracts, or surprise fees, just a $1 to transfer the equipment ownership over to you. Our mission is to provide affordable monthly payments and a straightforward path to ownership.
How Long Does My Approval Last?
The credit approval remains valid for 180 days, allowing you a wide window of time to prepare, install, and complete your home projects.
Who Will Be Installing My Equipment?
Your local licensed and vetted professional from The Comfort Collective will handle the installation of your equipment. If you do not have a contractor to support you, reach out to our team through our contact form with your address and equipment needed, and our team can recommend a company from our network.
What is the Difference Between Leasing and Financing?
Leasing involves a fixed-term agreement with included breakdown protection, which means you don’t have to pay out of pocket for eligible repairs. Financing involves an open loan with customizable terms. Breakdown protection is not included on financed equipment. Both options are able to be transferred if the home is sold.
Can I Put a Down Payment on My Lease or Financed Loan?
Yes, you can! This can be arranged with your Comfort Collective professional when discussing your monthly rate.
How Long Does It Take to Be Pre-Approved?
Assuming all information provided on the credit application is valid, you will receive instant pre-approval for leased equipment and/or financed loans.
Am I Eligible for Government Rebates for My Equipment?
Some government rebate programs may allow for leased equipment to be eligible for rebates. Reach out to the program administrators to confirm if leasing is available or check with your contractor for more information.
What Equipment Can I Lease or Finance Through Comfort Owl?
We lease a wide range of equipment, including but not limited to heat pumps, water heaters, water softeners, boilers, furnaces, air conditioners, combination units, and/or air exchangers. Find out more about our leasing options.
Financing is an open loan and can be used for equipment upgrades or home renovation projects. Find out more about our financing options.
What Documents and Information Will I Need to Provide?
To complete a lease or loan agreement, you will need to provide your banking information (through our Flinks banking connection feature, or by providing a void cheque, or pre-authorized debit details form), employment status, and address of installation. For identity verification purposes, we collect standard personal information such as your date of birth and current address, as well as verification of government-issued ID.
A co-applicant can be added to the application, and they will be required to provide the same information as well.
What is the Comfort Collective?
The Comfort Collective is our network of trusted contractors who complete installations, service, and maintenance for Comfort Owl customers. We partner with locally owned companies and licensed professionals who meet our standards for quality, reliability, and customer care. It’s our way of ensuring every homeowner receives consistent service from people they know while supporting their community.
Am I Required to Meet in Person to Fill Out and Sign Documents?
No, meeting in person is not necessary. The entire process from credit application to agreement signing can be done electronically. Connect with a professional from The Comfort Collective to find out more.
Can I Lease Equipment and Open a Financed Loan at The Same Time?
Yes, you can lease equipment and use the remainder of your pre-approved amount to open a financed loan for other home renovations projects.

Is 24/7 Service Available? Who Do I Call in Case of Breakdown?
Yes, we have customer service available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Call the phone number on the Comfort Owl sticker found on your leased equipment (1-877-386-0825) or email [email protected]. You are also welcome to contact The Comfort Collective professional who installed your equipment.
I’m a Landlord, Can I Put Comfort Owl Rentals in My Rental Properties?
Yes, you can! The owner of the property must sign the lease agreement for the equipment. However, existing or new tenants can be set up as the payee for monthly payments. It’s important to note that if the tenant defaults on payment or moves out, the responsibility for payments will revert to the owner of the property.
Are There Additional Fees?
Provided that your account is in good financial standing, you will not incur any additional fees. There are no registration fees for leasing, and we offer a $1 purchase at end-of-term, making us a true lease-to-own solution provider.
What if I Sell My House?
Lease agreements can be transferred to the new homeowner with a title transfer fee, or the equipment can be purchased by paying off the remaining months left in the contract before the sale of the house. What If I Want to End My Lease?
You can purchase your equipment at any point during the lease term. The purchase price is based on the current monthly rate and the remaining months of the lease term, plus a title transfer fee. Purchasing the leased equipment will effectively end breakdown protection coverage. Who Will Handle Service Calls for Breakdown Protection?
Service will be handled by the same contractor who installed the equipment. If the installing contractor is not available for any reason, Comfort Owl will work with another approved contractor from The Comfort Collective to complete the service.
What is Breakdown Protection?
Breakdown protection ensures the homeowner will not have to pay out of pocket for equipment failure due to defect or part malfunction.
It’s important to note that breakdown protection is contingent on regular equipment maintenance; normal wear and tear is not covered.
Who Is Responsible for Maintaining the Equipment?
It is the homeowner’s responsibility to maintain the installed equipment per the manufacturer’s recommendations. If a breakdown occurs as a direct result of lack of maintenance, your breakdown protection will be void. We strongly recommend you talk to your Comfort Collective professional about including a maintenance plan and building the cost into your monthly rate, creating an easy all-in-one payment.
What Does Maintenance Involve?
Maintenance involves preventative measures to keep the equipment in good working order, similar to regular oil changes for a vehicle. Examples of maintenance for our equipment include, but are not limited to, an annual water heater flush, seasonal HVAC tune-up, replacing filters, and regular inspections.
What Are My Options at the End of Term?
You have three options at the end of the term:
- Purchase your equipment for $1 to transfer ownership to you. No other fees involved – that’s Comfort Owl’s $1 difference!
- Continue paying your monthly rate to maintain your breakdown protection.
- Upgrade your equipment to new, more efficient equipment and choose to enter a new lease if desired.

What is the Interest Rate?
Our interest rate is dependent on the current market. Please reach out to your Comfort Collective professional for current rates.
What if I Sell My House?
You would be responsible for paying the amount owing prior to selling the home. Alternatively, our loans are transferable to the new homeowner.
What Can I Finance?
You can finance select home improvement projects or home equipment upgrades, starting at a minimum cost of $1000.
Are There Any Additional Fees?
A standard registration fee of $99.95 will be charged to your account 10 days after the loan is registered. Provided that your account is in good financial standing, you will not incur any additional fees. If you’d like to make a payment towards your loan or pay it off in full, you can do so at any time without penalty or fees. Is Breakdown Protection Included for Loans?
Repairs and service are not included in loans. Please refer to our lease program if you are interested in breakdown protection.
